CCTV Systems

At CDS Security & Fire we design, install, commission and maintain CCTV systems ranging from simple one-camera and monitor observation systems, through to multiple CCTV camera systems, fully functional PTZ (pan, tilt and zoom) cameras. Recording can be via digital recording facilities, IP (Internet Protocol) Based Server Systems and/or off site Control and Monitoring CCTV Systems.

All CCTV Systems are designed, installed and maintained to NACOSS GOLD Code of Practice, The Home Office Recommendations and Code’s of Practice. We install CCTV Systems in all Durham, Newcastle, Northumberland, Tyne & Wear, Cleveland and North Yorkshire areas.

All CDS Security & Fire CCTV Systems are designed, installed, commissioned and maintained to NACOSS GOLD (NSI) Code’s of Practice and relevant British Standards e.g. BS7958, BS8418 AND NCP104.

We feel it is vitally important that our staff are fully trained and consistently informed of new developments in all aspects of CCTV, in order to give our customers the advice they require, to ensure that they are then able to make an informed decision as to their requirements and expectations.

CCTV has a multitude of uses, for example;

  • Safeguard against theft on-site
  • Deter vandalism and criminal activity
  • Observe reception or waiting areas for staff safety and efficient customer service
  • Visual verification and record any person entering your premises
  • Oversee and control production facilities, site activity, stock levels etc
  • Monitor or Record live video from one or all of your business premises
  • Be alerted outside office hours via email with snapshot images if any motion is activated
  • Monitor large areas like car parks
  • Allow customers to view a live stream online of your business activity
  • View live pictures from home, your mobile phone or anywhere in the world

CCTV Systems are generally classified as either Analogue or IP Based;

We see the advantage of both Analogue and IP CCTV technology and recognise that a hybrid system may, in some cases, be the best choice.

Automatic Number Plate Recognition

Automatic Number Plate Recognition (ANPR/VNPR) is no longer the preserve of the police and high security sites, and is now available to any small or medium size business with a need to monitor and control vehicle movements. It is possible to capture images of vehicle number plates and drivers with repeatable consistency and without a recorder. This can greatly benefit users who need to manage parking, detect unknown vehicles or just wish to welcome staff or visitors with a customised message.

Video Analytics

Video analytics, also known as automated video content analysis, provide organisations and businesses with greatly enhanced security by detecting security breaches around perimeters or in specific vulnerable areas, e.g. unattended objects and irregular activity patterns are captured on film and analysed as to their risk.  Software detects cameras that are obstructed or to changes in the cameras position (in real time) alerting staff to a potential security breach. Customer services issues can be highlighted (e.g. unacceptable waiting times) and customer traffic patterns can be monitored.

Monitored CCTV Systems

CDS Security & Fire have installed and maintain a considerable number of monitored CCTV Systems in the North East; Newcastle, Durham, Cleveland and North Yorkshire areas.

Remote Video Response and Monitored CCTV Systems can capture images of a planned criminal act before it has even been committed, and by use of an audio facility could persuade a criminal to change their plans whilst still recording all activity.

In operation, cameras and detectors and public address/tannoy systems are placed strategically around a site and linked to our UK Based Alarm Receiving Centre (ARC). Operators will take control of the cameras to establish precisely what is happening on site and capture crucial evidence such as facial images and vehicle number plates.

Using the audio system, verbal warnings can also be relayed to intruders.

Our control room ensures a fast and effective response from the Police and specified keyholders. All camera images are stored; all alarm activations saved and all telephone calls recorded, making data available for review or submission in a criminal prosecution at a later date.

Benefits of a Remotely Monitored CCTV System;

  • Fewer Manned Guards
  • Warn off Intruders by speaking to site through Public Address/Tannoy System
  • Only call the police to “real” incidents

In our experience, remote monitoring is most efficient when CCTV, Access Control, Intruder, and Fire Alarm Systems are working as one integrated system. A single alarm event will open an almost instant pathway to fully functional real time video and bi-directional audio.

In addition to this, we can provide our clients with a tailored email and text messaging service that will deliver individual alerts to individual stake holders.

All CCTV Systems service and maintenance visits are carried out as per our ISO 9001:2000 procedures covering 24-hour call out service, and emergency 4 hour response (out of hours) with a full diagnostic check carried out during a maintenance visit, and copy report issued to the client.
