Job Title                     Multi-Skilled Service Engineer

Department               Engineering

Responsible To          Operations and / or Service Manager


Role & Responsibilities

The successful candidate will be responsible for, but not limited to:

 

  • Installation, servicing / maintenance, testing, commissioning and training customers in the use of Security Systems (Intruder / CCTV / Access) in accordance with NSI and relevant Codes of Practice/Policies.
  • Installation, servicing / maintenance, testing, and training customers in the use of Fire Alarm in accordance with BAFE SP203, relevant British Standard and other relevant Codes of Practice/Policies.
  • Installation, servicing / maintenance, testing, and training customers in the use of Disabled Refuge, Public Address, Call System & Induction Loops in accordance with relevant British Standard and other relevant Codes of Practice/Policies.
  • Liaising with Alarm receiving centres.
  • Responding to out of hours service calls at customer’s premises / houses on a 24 hour rota basis.
  • Full Completion of relevant job paperwork, and returning this to the relevant person in the office in a timely manner.
  • Taking part in ‘In house’ & ‘external training provider’ training sessions and tool box talks
  • Wearing Company Branded PPE and uniform at all times
  • To be personally tidy / clean and presentable at all times.
  • To ensure any vehicle or equipment that you use is kept in good condition, free of defects and is clean and tidy.
  • To treat customers premises with the utmost respect (goods and premises) and ensure any work carried out is neat, to relevant standards and left in a clean and tidy manner
  • To maintain a safe, tidy, clean and secure work place with utmost regard for slips / trips that could occur to customers, colleagues and others on site.

 

24 Hour Callout Rota

Our callout rota is covered by 8 engineers at present; each engineer covers 3/4 days every 3½ weeks (approx.)

Skills Required:

The applicant should have but not be limited to the following basic requirements:

 

  • Computer Literate to appropriate level to carry out the role, understanding of use of control panel, networking & operation of windows based programs including but not limited to Microsoft office package including Excel.
  • Advanced fault finding skills and reporting
  • Able to work independently and as part of a team
  • Very good understanding of current Health & Safety requirements.
  • Good knowledge of all appropriate working standards and current legislations.
  • Must have or be working to CDS training level advanced in all disciplines.

 

Training

  • Dependent on previous experience and qualifications.
  • Regular product, technical training and tool box talks
  • Regular reviews of standards, current legislation and technical bulletins

 

Qualifications / Experience

  • A minimum of 3 years experience with Security & Fire Systems.
  • Knowledge of IP Systems / Networking is preferable
  • Knowledge of Security System British/EN Standards
  • Knowledge of NSI Standards
  • A minimum of 5 GCSE’s A-C
  • Full Driving License (subject to inspection for company insurances)

Security Screening

  • To pass Durham Police Level 2 screening
  • Have a clean DBS (Disclosure & Barring Service) Report

 

Attributes

  • A polite and well mannered individual with a methodical ability to diagnose and solve problems.
  • A punctual person with good time management skills, able to work alone as well as a member of an established team.
  • Have the ability to train others / apprentices

 

Assessor Methodology

  • A Formal Interview and, if deemed necessary, a second interview will be undertaken.
  • A proven track record.
  • Good references.
  • The candidate may also be promoted in house whereby if the candidate is the only applicant, and skills and attributes are already well known by the management team, an informal interview would take place.

 

Benefits

Rate of Pay - £23,000 - £27,000 per annum depending on experience

Holidays – 25 days per year plus statutory holidays
