The role is variable and you will be responsible for installing and servicing and maintaining systems, you will be expected to complete works unsupervised and be keen to advance your learning through technological advances, and our training matrix, to provide innovative solutions to customers.

As our new team member you will ideally have skills and experience in the following areas:

  • A minimum of 3 years technical experience with Security and/or Fire systems and products. Both is an added bonus.
  • Knowledge of Fire Alarm and/or Security System British/EN Standards
  • Knowledge of BAFE and NSI Gold Standards
  • Full clean driving license

JOB DESCRIPTION AND PERSONAL SPECIFICATION

 Job Title                     Installation and Service Engineer

Department                Engineering

Primary Function      Installation, service and maintenance of building systems (fire alarms, intruder alarms, CCTV, access control, emergency communication and and public address systems) to commercial and domestic properties.

 

Role & Responsibilities

The successful candidate will be responsible for, but not limited to:

  • Installation, servicing / maintenance, testing, commissioning and training customers in the use of Security Systems (Intruder / CCTV / Access) in accordance with NSI and relevant Codes of Practice/Policies.
  • Installation, servicing / maintenance, testing, and training customers in the use of Fire Alarm in accordance with BAFE SP203, relevant British Standard and other relevant Codes of Practice/Policies.
  • Liaising with Alarm receiving centres.
  • Responding to out of hours service calls at customer’s premises / houses on a rota basis.
  • Full Completion of relevant job paperwork, and returning this to the relevant person in the office in a timely manner.
  • Taking part in ‘In house’ & ‘external training provider’ training sessions and tool box talks
  • Wearing Company Branded PPE and uniform at all times
  • To be personally tidy / clean and presentable at all times.
  • To ensure any vehicle or equipment that you use is kept in good condition, free of defects and is clean and tidy.
  • To treat customers premises with the utmost respect (goods and premises) and ensure any work carried out is neat, to relevant standards and left in a clean and tidy manner
  • To maintain a safe, tidy, clean and secure work place with utmost regard for slips / trips that could occur to customers, colleagues and others on site.

 

24 Hour Callout Rota

  • To be discussed and agreed if required

  • Other as and when required by the Company

Skills Required:

The applicant should have but not be limited to the following basic requirement:

  • Computer Literate to appropriate level to carry out the role, understanding of use of control panel, networking & operation of windows based programs
  • Fault finding skills and reporting
  • Able to work independently and as part of a team
  • Very good understanding of current Health & Safety requirements.
  • Knowledge of all appropriate working standards and current legislations.

Training

  • Dependent on previous experience and qualifications in-line with our Training Matrix
  • Regular product, technical training and tool box talks
  • Regular reviews of standards, current legislation and technical bulletins

Qualifications / Experience

  • A minimum of 3 years experience with Security and/or Fire Systems.
  • Knowledge of IP CCTV & Access Systems and Networking is preferable
  • Knowledge of Security System British/EN Standards
  • Knowledge of NSI and BAFE Standards is preferable
  • A minimum of 5 GCSE’s A-C
  • Full Driving License (subject to inspection for company insurances)

Security Screening

  • To pass Police Level 2 screening
  • Have a clean Enhanced DBS (Disclosure & Barring Service) Report

Attributes

  • A polite and well mannered individual with a methodical ability to installations, servicing and fault finding
  • A punctual person with good time management skills, able to work alone as well as a member of an established team.
  • Have the ability to train others / apprentices

Assessor Methodology

  • A Formal Interview and, if deemed necessary, a second interview will be undertaken.
  • A proven track record.
  • Good references.
