IP CCTV Systems

Milestone

CDS Security & Fire have undertaken Milestone Advanced Certification and are Milestone Channel Partners. This BICSI®-accredited certification qualifies our CDS Security & Fire to estimate requirements and install, configure and manage XProtect® Corporate, XProtect® Enterprise, XProtect®Analytics and XProtect® Smart Wall.

Utilising the latest in CCTV security technology, Video Analytics, ANPR (Automatic Number Plate Recognition), High Definition cameras and IP based CCTV equipment we can deliver solutions that are at the leading edge of CCTV camera technology. CDS Security & Fire has expertise in designing and installing CCTV security systems from simple video surveillance systems for small shops and business premises to large complex projects such as shopping centre surveillance systems and high profile buildings.

Our team of Accredited Engineers are trained to implement and configure IP CCTV systems from market leaders such as Milestone, Axis, Pelco, Vista and Samsung.

Whilst IP CCTV has been available since early 2000, it is only in the last few years that the technology has matured, leading to the benefits including;

  • Greater flexibility
  • Better images and camera performance
  • Easier system installation
  • Better system integration
  • Better long term value

IP CCTV Systems use digital cameras to transmit video streams via standard Internet Protocol (IP) networks. This video is sent to a device for monitoring, and then stored digitally on a recorder for easy search and retrieval. Standard Ethernet cabling or wireless protocols are used which allow greater flexibility for physically positioning the cameras, and give the freedom to re-deploy the cameras easily to meet changing business needs.

IP networking allows cameras to be viewed remotely over the Internet, similarly cameras with pan, tilt and zoom (PTZ) mechanisms can also be controlled remotely as well.

Traditionally CCTV has always relied on human monitoring, with staff in control rooms viewing multiple screens to identify potential threats or record live incidents, with the inherent risk that somebody will miss something. Some digital cameras now have in-built Intelligent Video Analysis, which means that the cameras will monitor what they are viewing thereby eliminating the risk of human error.

  • Intelligent Motion Detection (IMD) distinguishes between ‘real’ movement and ‘environmental’ movement therefore false alarms are minimised and only real incidents are relayed to the relevant personnel.
  • Intelligent Object Detection (IOD) detects when objects enter or leave a designated area within the cameras view. An alert is raised when the camera detects that a pre-determined rule has been broken.

At CDS Security & Fire we design, install, maintain and service IP CCTV systems throughout the Durham, Newcastle, Northumberland, Tyne & Wear, Cleveland and North Yorkshire areas, to NACOSS GOLD (NSI) Code’s of Practice and relevant British Standards.

All CCTV Systems service and maintenance visits are carried out as per our ISO 9001:2008 procedures covering 24-hour call out service, and emergency 4 hour response (out of hours) with a full diagnostic check carried out during a maintenance visit, and copy report issued to the client.
