The conservation charity the National Trust was founded in 1895 and, since then, has been committed to protecting natural and historic places for future generations. Today, the organisation looks after hundreds of historic houses, castles, monuments and green spaces across the UK.
Historical sites owned by the National Trust in the North East include Cragside, Seaton Delaval Hall, Wallington Mansion and Cherryburn in Northumberland. Washington Old Hall in Tyne and Wear, and Gibside in Burnopfield, Newcastle.
More recently we have been asked to install K-Mesh Wireless fire detection alarms to the Crook Hall & Gardens site, which will eliminate possibility of significant disruption across the area.
What they needed?
Naturally, the National Trust always makes concerted efforts to protect the condition and integrity of historical buildings it owns. Therefore, the same approach was expected of our engineers as they implemented security and fire safety solutions at the various properties.
The National Trust wanted us to install, add to, service, repair and maintain security and fire safety systems without the finished result distracting from the buildings’ charming heritage character.
Therefore, we knew that any new security and fire safety fittings had to be put in place in a manner that left them as inconspicuous as possible without being compromised in their important functionality.
